When in 1999, I inherited from my mother Anna MAria the lovely farm of Piumazzo in the fertile
countryside of Modena, I immediately thought of how I could honor her memory, and continue
remembering her in a tangible way.
For that land, which up to then had been simple seed plot, my mind wandered to find a proper frame and I saw, as in a Monet painting, my field, all colored in green, harmonious and vital, capable of satisfying the mind and the heart.
It was a long route, sometimes truly punctuated with fleeting second thoughts which were always pushed back. In fact, the design glimpsed in my mind at the outset was stronger even than the physical toil it took to become real. A route that look shape, changed, grew, and gave life to one hundred thousand Lambrusco Grasparossa rooted cuttings.
The first rooted cuttings grew, and from them came my wine, which thus added ruby red to the palette of the first green colors, like the blood that runs and sparkles in the veins of us Italians.
This is the way this wine is. There are no other words. It must be tested.
Every time its froth lines the edge of glass like a woman's cheerful laugh, I find satisfaction in this decision, and I would like everyone to share these moments of extremely vital pleasure with me.
Saliens et titillans, that's how all our days should be. Thank you, Mamma, for always being at my side and for continuing to guide me with your wonderful and infinite kindness.
